In the 4th quarter of last year, worldwide PC shipments grew by 3.1% over the same period of 2009 amounted to approximately 93.5 million shares. This figure was worse than previously projected Gartner increase in October- December at 4.8%.
The largest supplier of PCs in the world is American. Hewlett-Packard (HP). But a change in its performance was worse than the industry average. In the 4th quarter of last year the company delivered more than 17.58 million computers, 1.2 % lower than during the same period in 2009. HP's share of the market decreased in October and December to 18.8 % from 19.6 % a year earlier. During the year, PC shipments grew by 6.5 % - to 62.8 million, market share declined to 17.9 % compared to 19.1% in 2009.
Ranked second Taiwanese company Acer also showed a negative trend of sales. Its share fell to 12.7 % compared to 13.3% by a decline in sales by 1.8%. Acer in the past year increased its deliveries by 13.8 % - to 45.3 million, market share has remained at 2009 levels - 12.9%.
Other companies within the top five world leaders, showed an increase in supply and market share in October-December.
In the U.S., PC shipments in the 4th quarter totaled 19.1 million units, up 6.6% below the same period of last year. The result was better than the forecast of analysts Gartner, waiting for the fall by 10%.
In Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) sales increased by 6.2 % - up to 32 million computers. In the Asia -Pacific region grew by 4.1% - to 27.9 million in Latin America - 15%, to 8.9 million units.
